Our Team
Our owners, Steven and Tracy Michels, have been East Lyme/Niantic residents for over 8 years. Steve and Tracy love living on the CT shoreline and after landing in East Lyme together, they had their son, Malcolm, who is 6 years old. As a family of 3, plus their Beagle, Charlie, and Australian Cattle Dog, Zoey, they often visit many of the town parks and beaches. Chris Lovell, Steve and Tracy’s best friend and Malcolm’s favorite uncle, is a trusted partner and consultant who has played an integral role in the opening of our business. Steve and Tracy, along with Chris, are passionate about doing their part to improve our town, not only in a fiscal sense, but also investing in the health and wellness of East Lyme’s residents.
Tracy
Owner
Tracy is 32 years old and is originally from Brooklyn, CT. After making her way down to the shoreline through work, she found herself in the banking industry. After having their son, Malcolm, Tracy found a role with Liberty Bank and currently works as a manager for their Commercial Loan Servicing team. You can find Tracy in our cave on Sundays and most evenings during the week. Tracy’s love for Salt Therapy is what prompted the couple to begin dreaming up our beautiful Salt Cave business. This business has been a labor of love for Tracy – ask her about the process of building and about the careful selection that has gone into our retail products (it’s her favorite subject)! Tracy has been visiting salt caves for several years and primarily uses Salt Therapy to alleviate stress and meditate in a healthy and calm space.
In her spare time, Tracy loves to craft. After being gifted a Cricut machine for Christmas, she spends time unwinding by creating beautiful pieces – you may even spot a few in our store.
Chris
Partner/Creative Consultant
Chris spent his childhood moving around, as a Military Brat. He landed on the CT shoreline about 20 years ago. After settling in CT, Chris began working at Big Y in 2006 and is currently a Bakery Manager. Chris has been instrumental and one of the creative brains behind designing our cave. You can find Chris from time to time booking appointments and giving tours as well.
Chris is excited to have a local salt cave to frequent, as he quit smoking about 2 years ago. He is looking forward to reaping the benefits that will come from Salt Therapy and potential lung performance improvement after many years of smoking cigarettes.
In his spare time, Chris also loves to play board games (he and Steve can be found every Tuesday night in their game room strategizing their next moves – ask Chris about games too)!
Malcolm
Customer Service Manager
Malcolm is 6 years old and was born and raised in East Lyme, CT. He is currently in 1st Grade and loves visiting the salt cave! Using the salt as a sandbox, Malcolm loves to fill up his bucket and bury his feet in salt. In his spare time, Malcolm loves to race and play superheroes – Hulk is his favorite (feel free to ask him)! You may just find Malcolm giving tours of the salt cave from time to time.
We are conveniently located at 14 Pennsylvania Avenue, Niantic, CT - right next to Spice Club and Broadway Kids!
